Now let’s take a moment to talk about the Core’s capacity for playing Audio Tracks.
0:13
Now an Audio Track is an MP3 or a WAV file that can be stored on the Core,
0:17
usually for background music or prerecorded announcements.
0:21
Now you can load these onto the Core using the Q-SYS Administrator tool.
0:25
By default, every Q-SYS Core can playback as many as 16 audio tracks simultaneously
0:31
which would commonly be used for eight stereo files or sixteen mono files.
0:37
The Core comes with a small internal media drive which you can store your audio tracks on.
0:41
But, if your design needs more audio capacity, there are several ways that you can upgrade your Core.
0:48
One option is to increase the size of the onboard media drive,
0:52
which you can select when you order your Core. You can order the MD-S, the MD-M, or the MD-L,
0:59
which will allow for more room and larger files on your Core.
1:04
Now while this upgrade may increase the storage capacity of your Core,
1:07
it doesn’t change the number of tracks that can be played simultaneously.
1:12
For this you’ll want to upgrade your Core with the optional Multi-Track Player.
1:16
The MTP-128 will increase the number of audio tracks that your Core can play simultaneously from 16 to 128.
1:25
Please be aware that if you do make this upgrade you are also required to upgrade
1:29
the size of your media drives to one of the 3 options that we just talked about.
1:34
Now keep in mind that the optional media drive and the Multi-Track Player
1:38
can only be installed at the QSC factory, so be sure you think about your specific requirements
1:43
of your design before you make your decision about your Core capacities.
1:47
One final note – when you’re creating your design in your Q-SYS Designer software,
1:51
be sure you go into the Core Properties panel
1:53
and select Audio Track field to set the appropriate number on your Core.
1:58
If you have the MTP-128 you’ll want to select 128 Tracks,
2:03
and if you don’t you just leave it at Default. I hope that helps - thanks for watching and we’ll see you next time.
